- In the meeting, share the slide in the first 5 minutes. Use the next 20 minutes to discuss the burning question and align on the week’s priorities.
- Send a two-line summary in Slack or email after: "We agreed runway is stable at 18 months. We’re focusing product efforts on features that reduce customer support costs this week."
Avoid These Traps
- Don’t make the deck perfect. A rough slide is better than a late, beautiful one.
- Don’t let it become a reporting monologue. Your job is to facilitate a conversation, not present a thesis.
- Don’t skip the meeting if you’re "too busy." That’s when you need it most. Consistency is your secret weapon.
- Don’t invite everyone. Start with the two or three key decision-makers who feel the pain of unstable data.
- Don’t get dragged into deep analysis during the meeting. Park complex questions for a follow-up. Your goal is alignment, not answers to everything.
