Who This Helps
Founder operators drowning in dashboards and data requests. You want to make faster decisions with compact evidence, not spend hours debating which test to run next. The Data Storytelling for Stakeholders course shows you how to turn messy numbers into a clear ask.
Mini Case
Li Wei, a founder operator at a SaaS startup, had 7 experiment ideas on the board. The team spent 3 weeks debating priority. After applying the One Key Message mission from the course, Li Wei cut the list to 2 experiments by asking one question: "What single decision does our stakeholder need to make?" The result? A 40% faster decision cycle and a 12% lift in experiment impact.
Do This Now (5 Steps)
- Name your stakeholder. Write down exactly who will decide. Is it your CEO, your product lead, or your investor? Be specific.
- Define the decision. What is the one yes-or-no question they must answer? For example: "Should we invest 50 hours in the onboarding redesign?"
- Find the key metric. Pick one number that answers that question. Not three. Not five. One.
- Write a single key message. In one sentence, state what the data says and what action to take. Example: "Churn dropped 8% after the new email flow, so run the same test on the trial cohort."
- Share the compact evidence. Give your stakeholder the one-page Executive Snapshot with the key message, the supporting number, and the ask. No extra charts.
Avoid These Traps
- The kitchen sink report. Don't include every dashboard widget. If the data doesn't answer the decision, leave it out.
- The "more data" stall. Don't delay the decision to collect more numbers. Use what you have now.
- The vague ask. Don't say "we should optimize." Say "run experiment A this week."
- The hidden assumption. Don't assume your stakeholder knows the context. State the problem clearly.
- The chart vomit. Don't show 4 charts when 1 bar chart will do. Choose the visual that answers the question.
Your Win by Friday
By Friday, you will have one prioritized experiment with a clear owner and a deadline. Your stakeholder will see the key message, the supporting number, and the ask in under 2 minutes. No more debate. No more drift. Just a faster decision and a focused team. And honestly, that feels a lot better than another hour in a dashboard rabbit hole.
