Who This Helps
This is for junior analysts who want to stop spinning on low-impact work. You have data, you have ideas, but you need a system to pick the one experiment that moves the needle. The Board Finance & Runway Narrative course shows you how to think like a leader who protects runway and allocates capital wisely.
Mini Case
Meet Priya. She's a junior analyst at a growth-stage startup. She has three experiment ideas: a pricing tweak, a new onboarding flow, and a referral program. Her CEO wants a recommendation by Friday. Priya uses the Runway Trigger Tree from the course to map each idea to cash impact. The pricing tweak could improve margins by 12% in 30 days. The onboarding flow takes 7 days to build but only affects 3% of users. The referral program needs 3 months to show results. Priya picks the pricing tweak. She ships a clean one-pager with a clear recommendation. Her CEO says yes.
Do This Now (5 Steps)
- List your top three experiment ideas. No more.
- For each, estimate the cash impact in dollars or percentage. Be honest.
- Map each idea to a runway trigger from the course: revenue, cost, or margin.
- Rank by speed to impact. Fastest wins.
- Write one recommendation sentence. Start with "We should..." and stop there.
Avoid These Traps
- Don't pick the experiment your boss likes. Pick the one that protects runway.
- Don't overanalyze. Three data points are enough to decide.
- Don't hide your recommendation in a pile of charts. State it first.
- Don't ignore the board signal. If the board cares about margin, your experiment must move margin.
- Don't wait for perfect data. Use the Scenario Envelope to test assumptions.
- Don't forget the fun part: you get to be the hero who saves the company money.
Your Win by Friday
By Friday, you will have one clear recommendation backed by a simple analysis. Your boss will see you as someone who prioritizes like a board member. You'll sleep better knowing you focused on the highest-impact move. And you'll have a repeatable method for every experiment after this one.
