Who This Helps
Founders and operators drowning in data but starving for direction. If you have a list of 10 things you could do but only time for one, this is for you. The Data Storytelling for Stakeholders course shows you how to turn noise into a clear next step.
Mini Case
Your team suggests testing a new onboarding flow, a pricing page redesign, and a referral program. Which one? You look at your data: 40% of sign-ups drop off in the first 3 minutes (onboarding). The referral program has low initial traffic, making results hard to read. The data story is clear: Fix the leaky bucket first. You prioritize the onboarding experiment. Two weeks later, you see a 15% increase in user activation. That's the power of a focused choice.
Do This Now (5 Steps)
- Grab your top three experiment ideas. Write each on a sticky note.
- For each idea, find one key metric it should move. Be specific (e.g., 'Reduce Day 1 drop-off by 10%').
- Check your data for the current baseline of that metric. What's the number right now?
- Ask: 'Which baseline number is the most painful for our growth right now?' This is your biggest leak.
- Stack rank your experiments based on that pain. The one that plugs the biggest leak goes to the top. Your prioritization meeting just got a lot shorter.
Avoid These Traps
- The 'Shiny Object' Trap: Don't pick the experiment that sounds coolest. Pick the one the data says hurts the most.
- The 'Everything is Priority One' Trap: If everything is high priority, nothing is. You must choose one to start.
- The 'Perfect Data' Trap: Don't wait for a full analytics dashboard. Use the one strongest signal you have.
- The 'Consensus' Trap: You don't need everyone to agree. You need a clear reason based on evidence.
- The 'We'll Do Both' Trap: Splitting focus means slower learning. Go all-in on one test at a time.
Your Win by Friday
By Friday, you will have one—and only one—clearly prioritized experiment for your team. You'll have a simple data point that explains why it's the top choice. You'll present it in your next team sync in 2 minutes flat. No more circular debates. Just a clear path forward. Time to turn data into your decision-making sidekick.
