  1. List your top 3 product questions. Write them down. No filtering yet.

  4. Rank by reliability. Score each metric on a scale of 1 (broken) to 5 (rock solid). Only consider metrics with a score of 4 or higher.

Avoid These Traps

  • Falling in love with a question. Just because it's interesting doesn't mean the data supports it. Let the contract decide.
  • Ignoring data drift. A metric that was reliable last month might be broken today. Check before you commit.
  • Overcomplicating contracts. A contract doesn't need to be a novel. Three lines can save you a week of wasted work.
  • Skipping the incident triage. If a metric fails, don't panic. Use the first-30-min triage card from the course to stay calm and fix it fast.
